MEET & GREET: Sauna Open Air 2006, Twisted Sister
As promised last week, here’s a very special gallery! Right after the show at Sauna Open Air, on June 10th 2006, Lordi had a chance to meet up with some of their personal idols, the legendary guys from Twisted Sister; Dee Snider, Jay Jay French, Mark “The Animal“ Mendoza, Eddie Ojeda and A.J. Pero (RIP). Snider and French both featured on The Arockalypse, so Sony BMG awarded them and Twisted Sister’s management the Finnish gold and platinum records (15 000 and 30 000 records sold respectively). I remember being extremely nervous and giddy for getting to meet and shoot photos of some of my biggest idols and rock ‘n’ roll heroes! Most of these photos I’ve never released before, so here’s a lot of new stuff for the Lordi and Twisted Sister fans! We were on a tight schedule, but the monsters had time to pose for a few pictures with us, the crew too! Like the ones where Amen is giving Sami a good squeeze he deserves and me finally getting to give Awa a proper hug.
Unfortunately we had to leave right after the meet up for the second show of that day and couldn’t see Twisted Sister’s gig. We had a 150km drive to KilleriRock, Jyväskylä and after that show, the band flew to Donington Park, UK to play at Download Festival the very next day. Next up for me was the 4-gig mini midsummer tour. What did I do? Sold merchandise, set up the stage? No and no. Tune in next week to find out more...
