LIVE: June 21st 2006, Private event, Tammisaari, Finland

On June 21st-24th 2006, Lordi did four gigs in four days, sort of a midsummer mini tour. This was a weird, out of the comfort zone type of experience for me, because I was asked to be the driver for the band and some of the crew. How can you say no to something like that though? But it meant driving a minibus about 2000km all around the Southern and Central Finland. Road trip with the coolest company, hell yeah!

First up was this private event in Tammisaari. The party was held by Management Events, a company organizing events for senior and top level management. And they had bought the Eurovision winners to perform at their summer party. No big deal… So what could be better than a ragtag group of rock’n’roll monsters stinking up the place!? Ok, we all felt a little out of place here, but hey, a gig is a gig is a gig. We had lots of time to set up the stage and to take it easy and enjoy the beautiful summer day. Before the gig, the band gave some interviews to reporters who were invited to the event. Also, Jussi Ahlroth, who was writing the official biography book Mie Oon Lordi at the time, came and interviewed some of the band and the crew for the book.

Here’s a big gallery of photos from that day; setting up the stage and the equipment, testing the pyrotechnics, from the interviews, group photos, random back- and off stage shots and of course a huge load of gig photos, with a few pretty good ones in there. “Only“ 64 of these were up on the original MDH website, so have another 45 previously unreleased as well, because what good are they just sitting on my backup hard drives!

The next two shows, Raumameren Juhannus and Joensuu Juhannus Festival I recorded on video for Mr. Lordi’s personal archives but from the last gig, at Kalajoen Juhannus, I have a bunch of good photos and that’ll be the subject of next week’s throwback gallery!
