LIVE: May 13th 2004, Nosturi, Helsinki, Finland

Wasn’t the brand new Borderline stuff absolutely amazeballs last week? Told ya! We’ll be returning to our regular programming for now, though… So let’s jump right in! After getting the new album, The Monsterican Dream, and everything accompanying it, like the new costumes, set pieces and props, ready and finished, it was time for Lordi to hit the stage once again! It had been over 9 months since the last gig at Wacken Open Air -festival previous August. The album release gig was originally supposed to happen on April 15th, the very next day of the album’s release, but the band and the management had to delay the show by about a month, to May 13th 2004. Lordi needed to get back into studio to record two new tracks, To Hell With Pop and Pyromite, for Blood Red Sandman -single B-sides to be released in May and there just wasn’t enough time to make all that happen.

But when the day finally came, oh boy was it something special! The show was held once again at Nosturi, Helsinki. This was the first and the last time the band played every song on The Monsterican Dream -album live. Included on the setlist was of course also the biggest hits and fan favorites from Get Heavy. The brand new set pieces and props looked truly awesome; the bloody curtain, the Evil Dead -inspired house with the address “1428” (a subtle nod to Nightmare On Elm Street -movies too), Enary’s podium with the huge mask-logo and the organ pipes and the massive anti-aircraft cannon just to name a few. On the original MonsterDiscoHell website I had only 27 of these pictures up, so here’s a massive batch, more than 40 never-before-seen photos! I’m sorry about the quality of the pictures though. I can’t remember what kind of a crappy camera I had at the time and I guess I had too much fun during the gig, so some of them may have turned out a bit blurry and shaky.
