LIVE: August 27th 2004, OMVF 2004, Oulu, Finland
In 2004 Lordi played only a dozen shows. Nine in Finland and supporting Nightwish on three in Sweden. Although I was at most of them, seems I only took photos at two. At the Nosturi one and the gig in Oulu, on August 27th. This show was a part of the annual Oulu Music Video Festival and also held the Air Guitar World Championships. Earlier that day they showed a different cut of Lordi’s The Kin than what was on The Monsterican Dream bonus DVD, on a big screen in the city. A gig in Oulu also meant it was time to buddy up with Hemitys to see a Lordi show together once again... Aaaand that’s probably the reason these photos never made it into the original MonsterDiscoHell photo album. They’re awful in so many ways; blurry, shaky, out of focus, dark and grainy. And so was I that night… But there’s a couple of pretty fun ones there so maybe they’re worth posting now after all these years.
After the show, the band did a meet & greet and posed for photos with the fans, so here’s a few from there too! After the shows in 2004, it was time to hit the road big time. The following spring Lordi did their first headlining tour, European Monstour 2005. 15 gigs in 8 countries and I got to hop on the tour bus for the entire ride. But more on that next week…
